Surface Mount Lead Hand
Reports to: Production Supervisor
Job Duties:
assist in department work load scheduling
assign work to operators
monitor work performance of operators
track operator attendance if supervisor is absent
train all SMT operators in the performance of their duties
interface with Supervision on issues critical to production output
monitor and evaluate Quality Data to improve process yield
assist in implementation of corrective actions to increase process
yield
interface with other departments in co-ordination of product flow
use, maintain and calibrate a variety of soldering devices such
as: solder iron, air vac, desoldering machines, thermal couples
accurately inspect and rework a variety of PCBA 's Printed Circuit
Board Assemblies with the aid of the above specified documents
accurately assemble a variety of assemblies with the aid of the
above specified documents
perform inspection of product using naked eye and or magnification
ranging from 3/4 X to 10 X as required
identify problems
use thermal compounds, conformal coatings, RTV, silicones or
other related
product in the assembly of PCBA's
- maintain FIFO on SMT consumeable floor stock
request Setup operator or technical support to correct machine
problems
use measuring devices ( verniers) and gauges
use SPC or Run Data in monitoring of various processes
use MIS system for work order update
use Windows Based Personal Computer (PC)
accurately complete daily time sheet
accurately complete error logging forms
work cohesively in a team environment
train other employees in the duties of post solder inspection
adhere to ESD procedures in the handling of material
adhere to all company and or legislated safety procedures and
policies
ensure work area is neat, clean and in a safe condition at all
times
report any unsafe conditions to supervisor
any other job related duties

Component Prep Codes
recognize and identify a variety of electronic components from
industry standard markings and packaging
have a good knowledge in the performance of the following jobs:
· SMT Post Solder Inspection
· SMT Hand build
· SMT Set Up
· SMT Operator
have a good working knowledge of the operation of all SMT
equipment such as: Screen Printer, HSP, Platform, Re-flow ovens
etc.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Grade 12 education or 2 years related experience
20/20 vision or vision corrected to 20/20
TYPE & DEGREE OF COMMUNICATION:
Ability to work in a team oriented environment
Ability to communicate ideas to team members
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
None
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in clean surroundings, air conditioning, good
light, proper ventilation and comfortable temperatures.
Some work is performed in an office environment
High degree of exposure to production environment
Occasional travel required
No accident or health hazards involved. Some exposure to
injuries such as bruises etc. Exposure to a serious hazard is unlikely

Safety glasses are required when working in designated areas
of production.
